I’ve been poking around since I was a child. Lighters, a few toys, a few motorcycles, a lot of legos went into the plastic sky.

And then I liked economic stuff. So when my mom bought a washing machine with a lifetime warranty, it warmed my heart. It must be quality. So trust you. And that is respect.

Now that I’m cleaning my PS4 son, I’m very angry. As many non-standard screws and as many stickers as possible – the warranty will be violated if removed. Biennial. So she’s gone anyway.

What does this have to do with ecology? Simply sustainability. Both for a lifetime washing machine and for boxes that, on the other hand, cannot be maintained and their service life is planned. For two years.

Have you ever been sold a car that an experienced mechanic cannot repair? Even in this field, I think there is a closure, but it would not occur to us that the car will have to go to an authorized service forever.

With regard to hardware, our perception has already shifted our perception a lot, led by Apple – only we can fix that. Even after the warranty, only us, because no one will get into it. Have you ever been sold a car that an experienced mechanic cannot repair? And we’ll cook for you too.

Or drop it right away. And buy a beautiful new, shiny, equally unrepairable device. And so on and on. And don’t let it occur to you that someone else wants to fix that device and don’t let Steve Jobs improve it.

And with software, it’s just the same. Pay, pay, pay us indefinitely and when we fail through the same omnivorousness and greed, just switch to another supplier and build everything on the green field again.

The burned hours of programmers, eaten pizza, drunk coffee, wasted electricity, worn-out computers – count them all in losses, even losses for our planet. And everything again and better.

Open source software is sustainable. That means organic. Economic. This means safe from the point of view of the possibility of changing suppliers in case of need or need. And even positive needs.

Some small companies deploy open source software to other small companies, whether for web administration or corporate databases. And if the customer company grows, there is an opportunity to switch to a larger supplier, which does not need to change everything from the ground up.

Why do companies like Google, Facebook, LinkedIN, Amazon, Yahoo and many others use open source software? It makes it available to communities, works on Android, pays developer money for something “free”.

Because open source software has a deeper logical meaning. Sustainability, clarity, transferability.
